Government Centre for Security (RCB) started its activity on 2 August 2008 by virtue of the Act on crisis management.

Its establishment is a significant step in building efficient and complex system of crisis management. The Government Centre for Security, in respect of issues related to crisis management, ensures services to the Council of Ministers, the President of the Council of Ministers, the Governmental Team for Crisis Management and a competent minister for internal affairs and fulfils  a function of a national centre for crisis management. The basic tasks of RCB include performance of analysis of threats occurring at a given moment, based on information and data obtained from all possible „crisis centres” functioning under the public administration and based on the data obtained from international partners. Moreover the tasks of RCB include development of optimal solutions occurring in critical situations and also co-ordination of flow of information on threats.
